Meet Your New Student Assistance Specialist!

Hi there, my name is Jasmine Garcia, your new Student Assistance Specialist (SAS) for the 2024-2025 school year! I am very excited to be a part of the Martone Team!

What is a

Student Assistance Specialist?

As a Student Assistance Specialist (SAS), I work with students either individually or in small groups to assist them in developing coping skills on any life issue they may be facing such as anger, bullying, grief or academic problems. These sessions are designed to be short-term (6-8 weeks) and are intended to promote emotional and social learning. I am also available to facilitate classroom presentations on a number of topics. In addition, I can assist students, parents and school faculty in locating various community resources.

How does a SAS benefit your classroom?

As teachers and staff, you are instrumental in my work with students. You are in a position to identify students who may be dealing with academic, personal, or family issues, and refer them to me for support. Referrals will be available to staff and teachers. In order to refer a student, please fill out the referral form that can be found in my box. Once the referral has been received, I will contact you to let you know when I will start seeing the student, or to obtain more specific referral information. If you would like to schedule a classroom presentation, please contact me via phone or email.
